versatile drumming for the modern songwriter

My interest in music started early on, from picking through my parents record collection, to the songs my father would sing late in the evenings.  I discovered the drums at age twelve when I bought a $50 kit from a friend that happened to play bass in a neighborhood band that was looking for a drummer.  We quickly found ourselves playing around town and gathering residencies at local bars and venues.  I started studying privately with a music grad named Greg Smith and within two years at 14 years old I was studying with Alan Shinn, head of Percussion at Texas Tech University.  After graduation, I attended The University of North Texas as a Jazz Studies Major studying with Henry Okstel, Jose Aponte, Poovalur Shriji, Mark Ford and Ed Soph.  I've also studied Sound Technology at South Plains College which helped to focus my playing both live and in the studio.  It was there that I met Daniel Fluitt and Amanda Shires and spent the following eight years touring with Thrift Store Cowboys.  Most recently, I moved to Tennessee to work more closely with Amanda, which has been both challenging and rewarding, allowing me to further hone my skills alongside herself and the Grammy Award winning Jason Isbell.  I proudly endorse the Pearl Drum Company (Thank you Marc Quiñones)

Over the years, I've been fortunate enough to tour and share stages with artists such as:

Amanda Shires - Andrew Combs - Ben Danaher - Colin Gilmore - Cory Branan - Daniel Markham - Dawes - DeVotchKa - Dwight Yoakum - Gregg Allman - Hayes Carll - Jason Isbell - Joe Ely - Justin Townes Earle - Lucero - Old 97s - Rodney Parker and the 50 Peso Reward - These United States - The Flatlanders and countless others
